AI & Ethical Technology Policy
Our commitment to responsible AI development, transparency, and ethical practices in building recruitment and career advancement tools
Effective Date: 1st October 2025
Last Updated: 7th March 2026
1. Responsible AI and Large Language Model Use
CVSense's AI systems, powered by Large Language Models (LLMs) and Natural Language Processing (NLP), analyse CVs, job descriptions, and application data to provide optimisation suggestions. We aim for fairness, transparency, and accuracy in all our AI-powered features.
The Company utilises Artificial Intelligence (AI), including Large Language Models (LLMs) and Natural Language Processing (NLP), to provide suggestions, recommendations, and assistance through the Services, including but not limited to content generation, CV optimisation, job matching, and application guidance.
All system-generated content, suggestions, and recommendations provided through the Services are advisory in nature only and are intended to assist Users in creating and improving their CVs and job applications.
Important: CVSense and our AI systems are not intended to get you jobs you are not qualified for. They are designed to help you pursue only positions for which you are ideally qualified.
Expert Apply Assist Service:
Where Job Seekers enrol in the Expert Apply Assist Service, CVSense utilises AI Technology — including Large Language Models (LLMs) and Natural Language Processing (NLP) — to identify suitable job opportunities, tailor CVs and cover letters, prepare applications, and submit them on the Job Seeker's behalf. AI is also used in the creation and management of email addresses and third-party accounts necessary for this service. All AI-generated application content is prepared in accordance with the Job Seeker's profile and qualifications, and the same ethical standards of fairness, accuracy, and transparency apply to this managed service.
Recruiter AI Services:
CVSense for Recruiters utilises Artificial Intelligence (AI), powered by Large Language Models (LLMs) and Natural Language Processing (NLP), to analyse candidate CVs, extract qualifications and skills, generate match scores against job criteria, rank candidates by suitability, and produce candidate summaries. These AI-powered recruitment tools are designed to assist — not replace — professional human judgment in the hiring process.
Recruiter AI outputs, including match scores, candidate rankings, and suitability assessments, are advisory only. Recruiters must exercise independent professional judgment and conduct human review before making any employment decisions. CVSense does not make hiring decisions and accepts no responsibility for recruitment outcomes.
2. Bias Mitigation
Our AI systems, including our Large Language Models (LLMs) and Natural Language Processing (NLP) models, are designed to avoid discrimination based on age, gender, ethnicity, religion, disability, or other protected characteristics.
Users are encouraged to review system-generated suggestions and exercise their own judgment when using recommendations.
Users acknowledge that system-generated suggestions and recommendations may not be suitable for all circumstances or job applications, and that Users remain solely responsible for reviewing, editing, and approving all content before submission to potential employers.
Recruiter Bias Mitigation:
Our candidate scoring and ranking algorithms are designed to evaluate candidates based on job-relevant criteria only, without reference to protected characteristics including age, gender, ethnicity, religion, disability, sexual orientation, or other protected attributes.
Recruiters must not use AI-generated scores to discriminate against candidates on any unlawful basis. Where AI analysis forms part of a recruitment decision, Recruiters are required to supplement it with human review to ensure compliance with employment equality legislation.
We regularly audit our recruitment AI models to identify and mitigate potential sources of bias in candidate scoring and ranking outputs.
3. Transparency
Users are informed when AI tools, including Large Language Models (LLMs) and Natural Language Processing (NLP), are being used throughout the CVSense platform and services.
System outputs are suggestions, not guarantees. The Company makes no warranties, representations, or guarantees regarding the success of any job application or employment outcome, or the accuracy or suitability of system-generated content for specific roles or industries.
Users acknowledge that employment decisions are made solely by employers and that the Company has no influence over such decisions regardless of the quality or nature of assistance provided.
Recruiter Transparency:
Recruiters are clearly informed when AI tools are being used throughout the CVSense for Recruiters platform, including during job description validation, CV screening, candidate scoring, and candidate ranking.
Match scores and candidate rankings are accompanied by explanatory information to help Recruiters understand the basis of AI assessments. Recruiters are encouraged to review the underlying data and exercise professional judgment rather than relying solely on numerical scores.
Recruiters are responsible for being transparent with candidates about the use of AI in their recruitment process, including informing candidates that automated screening tools may be used to evaluate their applications.
4. Data Handling & Privacy
CV data and usage data are processed securely in accordance with our Privacy Policy and GDPR Policy.
Our models do not retain personally identifiable information beyond what is necessary to provide the service.
By using the Services, Users acknowledge and consent to their Content being processed by AI systems, including Large Language Models (LLMs) and Natural Language Processing (NLP), as part of the Services, including SmartMatch, Apply Assist, and Expert Apply Assist Service functionality.
Job Seekers enrolled in the Expert Apply Assist Service additionally consent to their Personal Data, CV content, and career information being processed by AI systems for the purpose of identifying opportunities, preparing applications, creating and managing service email addresses, and submitting applications to prospective employers on their behalf.
The Company implements appropriate technical and organisational measures to protect User data against unauthorised access, alteration, disclosure, or destruction.
Recruiter Data Handling:
Candidate Data uploaded by Recruiters through Screening Projects is processed securely and in accordance with our Privacy Policy and GDPR Policy. AI analysis of candidate CVs is performed using encrypted data channels, and candidate personal information is not retained by AI models beyond the immediate processing session.
Recruiters who upload Candidate Data act as Data Controllers and are responsible for ensuring they have appropriate consent or legal basis to process such data. CVSense processes Candidate Data solely on behalf of and in accordance with Recruiter instructions.
5. Continuous Improvement
Models are regularly updated to improve accuracy, reduce bias, and comply with ethical standards.
Feedback from users is incorporated into system improvement cycles to enhance the quality and effectiveness of our services.
The Company may use aggregated and anonymised data derived from User Content for service improvement, analytics, and research purposes, provided such use does not identify individual Users.
6. Human Oversight
Human review is recommended for all CV edits, application recommendations, and system outputs before submission to potential employers.
CVSense does not make hiring decisions; final responsibility lies with the user. Users must exercise their own judgment when using suggestions and recommendations.
The accuracy, completeness, or appropriateness of system-generated content cannot be guaranteed, and users remain solely responsible for all Content they upload, submit, or provide to the Platform.
Recruiter Human Oversight:
Recruiters must exercise human oversight over all AI-generated recruitment outputs. AI match scores, candidate rankings, and suitability assessments must be reviewed by qualified recruitment professionals before being used to make shortlisting, interview, or hiring decisions.
Under Article 22 of the UK GDPR, individuals have the right not to be subject to decisions based solely on automated processing that produce legal effects concerning them. Recruiters using CVSense AI tools must ensure that no candidate is rejected or selected based solely on automated scoring without meaningful human involvement in the decision.
CVSense provides AI tools to support — not replace — professional recruitment expertise. Recruiters remain fully responsible for all hiring decisions and the legal and ethical consequences thereof.
